Bloods fit tests & unnecessary worries- advice please!

Hi

i am new here found it when browsing scared of future tests knowing iron was already an issue 6 months ago put down to likely perimenopause.
suffered from many things then got Covid without needing hospital 2 years ago. That changed life for the worse!

long Covid eventually diagnosed by nhs respiratory specialist with related asthma oh yay but the long now entails several new which before did not include my stomach or bottom! Minus mild ibs buscopan helped & previous constipation from years of opiates- got over that problem majorly reducing & eating LOADS of veg weekly!

symptoms galore I’ve battled them had a breakdown including alcohol abuse. Symptoms obviously continued cut back then removed drink more recently & other symptoms appeared drastically severe like weight loss being sick from anything & morning bowel habit changing as not happening frequently like before. Before the covid, I Had blood on & off but was told not to worry only around the inner anus, something to do with the muscles & to use steroid cream when it occurs.

anyway now had full bloods again awaiting a poop to send fit tested. Worries of easily abnormal results especially as we know the family has bowel cancer & my gp has suspicions our bloods give false negatives to infections, to make things more complicated!

hope someone can help x

  • Hi Chantetz,

Covid seems to have had a long term impact on you and I am sorry to hear you had long covid with related asthma. You seem to have been through an awful lot and well done for removing drink as alcohol will never help and has a tendency to make things worse. You did well to flag these symptoms you noticed like the weight loss, being sick and the changes in your bowel habits. It's completely normal to worry about the FIT test and I am keeping everything crossed for you for good results!

I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have been in a similar place before and that they will be along shortly to share their experience with you. It does help to talk to others who have experienced similar symptoms.

    Best wishes,
