Colonoscopy

Hi every one I’m due for a colonoscopy on Tuesday I’m feeling really scared don’t really feel.upto the procedure as I really suffer with stress and anxiety but I know I need to do this  I have been feeling as if I need to poo but some times it’s just reddish pus and feeling very gassy but because of feeling I need to poo I’m always in the bathroom , been having problems for a while now. I thought maybe I just had internal piles but when I went to my gp doctor couldn’t see or feel any thing so did a fit test which came back positive  so I was referred for a colonoscopy  I’m so scared of having cancer  not looking forward to the bowel prep  I think your all a lot braver than me   Xx

  • Hi James really good to hear from you  hope every thing turns better for you   I’m sure you will soon be feeling a lot better  you will get there James   Sending lots of love and you are always in my thoughts.    Geri

  • I've had several recently - go for the anaesthetic option without a doubt. Otherwise a safe procedure - just one thing, ensuring that the bowel is empty will mean no second trip which happened to me. I started the laxatives two days earlier than the first time so when I used their powerful one I was clean and they made a good job of it. Good luck ️

  • Hello everyone and Happy New Year!

I hope you are all doing well and that 2026 brings you health, good news and happiness.

My journey has been almost exactly a year. I was diagnosed on New Year's Eve 2024 with a colonoscopy. A year and 3 days later (tomorrow morning) I will be in hospital for maybe the 50th time to have my stoma/ileostomy reversed by rh wonderful surgeon who removed my tumour back in July.

It's been the hardest year of my life, but I am so grateful to be where I am now, and for the incredible support I've had, from over 100 medical professionals, from my family, friends and colleagues, and from this forum- which was a Godsend in the early months.

I am apprehensive about tomorrow but looking forward to being back to 'normal' very soon.

Wishing you all the very best in your own journeys. If anything I can share from my own experience might help you in some small way, please do reach out.

    Much love
