Cervical cancer - sick with worry

Hello, not quite sure what I’m looking for here other than to just write down what’s going on.

im beside myself with worry, i cant function and feel physically sick.

I had some intermittent bleeding two episodes this month out with my period. Prior to this always had regular period no issues and never any issues with smear.

I went to gp who said likely stress but I asked to be examined and glad I did. She said she could see a few lesions at 11oclock on my cervix. She said she could see a little bloody around them.

bloods taken and swab and said done back in one week, it may just be infection. I returned yesterday, bloods ok and swab clear. She looked at cervix again and said this time Sheen seen more lesions and they were at 6oclock not 11 she may have missed them previously.  She then said an urgent referral to be sent to hospital 2wk suspected cancer.

I am no beside myself with worry, analysing the last few months, I did feel a slight fullness feeling below but it seem to co inside with ovulating and was not persistent.

since yesterday I feel pain in right side pelvis, I’m panicking to go to toilet and wipe incase there is blood.

a friend of mine passed away three weeks ago with advanced cervical cancer, another friend passed west early in year, she had cancer all through her and didn’t know. Both young mums.

I have a 7 yr old little girl, I’m so scare to be ill or to die.

im sorry this is so long but i just don’t know how to make it through until my appointment which might be delayed due to Christmas. I don’t know how i will cope if its the worst news

  • Hello LW17

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some concerns about your health. It's great to hear that you've already seen your GP who has taken some initial swab tests and referred you for further investigation. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious.

We have another new member  who has recently posted this thread about an urgent referral for symptoms related to cervical health. Hopefully, the two of you will be able to connect and share your experiences with each other.

We know that waiting for an appointment can be a difficult time. If you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (excluding bank holidays).

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for your appointment. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
