Painful Colonoscopy

I have had multiple colonoscopies in my life (i am now 73) and although not pleasant they have never been painful.

However, i had another a few weeks ago and was given fentanyl which i understand is one of the strongest painkillers.

I was in excruciating pain and my heart rate reduced to 27 resulting in the procedure being aborted before they got to the very end of the colon. I was given naloxone to reverse the drugs.

It is in this area (right hand side) where i have pain constantly. I also have totally different bowel movements to any i have ever had before...very loose and 2-3 times a day. I used to go days and have to take medication!

No biopsies were taken on extraction due to my reducing heart rate.

I have now been referred for a CT scan of the colon.

Coincidentally i had a right hip replacement at the beginning of this year and the problems seem to be since then. I am left wondering if the hip operation may have done some internal damage?
