Really concerned about ongoing issues after ultra sound results on ovaries should i be worried ? . Please read 36 yrs northwest

I've had pains in my stomach , abdomen and back sciatic pain since aug 23. I was dismissed various times with IBS and acid reflux and over active bladder. Last year I began to suffer with b12 deficiency and flare ups of pains, high blood pressure. They put me on ometprozole, alverine , and b12 3 monthly injections. When I had my repeat yearly smear due to HPV, it picked up on cell changes and high grade HPV. I ended up going to a colposcopy and it was graded as mild dyskaryosis cell changes. I was to repeat my smear in a year and if the same get a biopsy. Since then I've suffered with severe pelvic pain, sciatic pain down my right leg and upper abdominal pain central. I have had pain after intercourse and bleeding and the urge to go to the toilet alot. I suffered 1 month ago with severe pain , and suddenly started to irregular bleed even though I'd had my period 2 weeks before. I went to the doctors and was sent for bloods and a ultra sound. My ALT (liver) was raised and my ca125 was 18 so normal. My ultra sound has picked up on the following though. Endometrium thickeking off 11.8 mm , 2.6x12.8CM simple cyst on right ovary , multiple varied sizes of follicles on left ovary. Free fluid in the cul de sac. And liver steatosis, my doctors asked me to book an appointment. Obviously all the above written out is concerning and I'm non the wiser to what is now the outcome or pathway. I'm 36 and have two young children and I'm in chronic pain that up to now for a year I feel was dismissed as IBS. Any advice I'd really appreciate.

  • Hello LouiseH88,

You did the right thing in going to see a doctor, so this can be monitored. While it's encouraging that there seems to be no indication of cancer at the moment, I can understand that you want to get to the bottom of your symptoms. It's common to need further tests and hopefully you can get a better idea of what the pathway could look like in your next appointment.

Please try not to worry too much. When you’re worried that you may have cancer, it can be natural to think the worst, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better. And the only person that can diagnose you is your doctor.

    I hope this is helpful,

  • Hi , they apparently got the measurements wrong so it was 3 cm not 13 which reassured me until I started bleeding again inbetween my periods and they told me they would rescan me in 4 months make sure its gone. But that's now just made me feel anxious about the cells instead getting worse.

  • Very similar story to you, lower back pain for years and within past year have GI issues, also on PPIs and reflux meds. It doesn’t feel like reflux. I started to get pins and needles in my foot so went for an MRI and then have found an 8cm mass incidentally. I am told to expect a dermoid cyst however had to be sent for another pelvic mri to confirm, that was on 23 dec and no need as yet. This process really started about 18 years ago with the back pain, in August with stomach issues and November once they found the mass. Feel like everything just taking forever.
My ca125 was 15 in August.
don’t feel you can’t call up the secretaries in the department and ask for an update on your pathway. It’s your health, you need to be your biggest advocate. I think I have rung the gynae department about 10 times since November!
