Awaiting Biopsy results on enlarged lymph nodes.

8 weeks ago while walking up the stairs i noticed a sore feeling (shooting pain) in my groin.

Upon inspection a lump which i now know to be an inaugruel lymph node swelled to 17mm under my skin in the groin area.

Since then ive had a ultra sound, ct scan and biopsy.

The lump is circular (not lymph node shaped) has a 'higher blood flow' then my dr liked, it showed up on my CT scan along with a few others in the same area deeper under the enlarged one. I was told it absorbed the radioactive sugar at a higher rate then it should but was told just above the amount a normal liver absorbs.

The lump since it showed up used to move side to side since the biopsy, but now doesnt since the biopsy. It hasnt got bigger from what i can tell, it doesnt hurt anymore. Its just there.

Last phonecall before the biopsy dr advised it could be a few things or it could be stage 2 lymphoma as yes it reacted to the sugar but in a way that would suggest it is not aggressive ( which is strange considering how quickly it showed up)

Naturally ive been living in hell since this all started. They booked my biopsy and my follow up appointment around the same time so my outpatient appointment for i presume the results is on Wednesday. Biopsy will have been 3 weeks past since then.

I know biopsy is the only way to tell, but im wondering if anyone had a similar experience.

Is no news good news? Would they not have called either way, should i prepare for the worst? I just want to hear its still all to play for but its hard to find that.

  • Hi Concerned24,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It's good to hear you don't have much longer to wait for your appointment - I know the waiting is never easy.

Unfortunately it's not possible to read anything in to the time taken to receive results.

Hopefully you'll be able to get all the information you need on Wednesday, and do of course use the appointment as an opportunity to talk things through and ask any questions you may have.

In the meantime, if others here have similar experience to share then hopefully you'll get some more replies soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
