>200 fit test result, colonoscopy Monday!

Hey everyone,

I’m new here, I’ve been ok up until now and the anxiety is crippling me. I’ve been having abdominal pain for a while but I put it down to ibs, I noticed a lot of blood when I was passing stool, about 6 weeks ago. I seen the gp who prescribed suppositories they didn’t help. I then noticed blood clots when going to the toilet, the gp arranged for me to do a fit test which came back >200 I’ve got my colonoscopy on Monday!
I’ve had mixed stools from thin and ‘loser’ than normal to being heavily constipated and passing small solid stools.

I know it could be anything but I can’t help but focus on the worst case

such a worrying time and I’m starting to freak out.

Any words of encouragement would be amazing thank you!

  • Hello Katmax,

I just wanted to wish you the best of luck for your colonoscopy tomorrow. Such a stressful time it must be for you but it's good you don't have to wait too long for the colonoscopy and you will hopefully soon get some definite answers. You did well to go and get checked by your doctor when you noticed all that blood as well as the persistent abdominal pain. It's important to be checked thoroughly. It can be alarming to have a high FIT test result but as you can read on our information page on the FIT test this can be caused by many different conditions but the colonoscopy will be the ultimate test to tell you what is going on and get a clear picture as to what is causing these symptoms.

It's a normal reaction to anticipate the worst case scenario but try not to anticipate what it might be if you can as it will only make your anxiety go sky high. Resist the urge to look things up online as this will always make you worry unnecessarily. Try if you can while you are waiting for results to keep busy during this worrying time doing things you enjoy - it won't be long now until you find out exactly what is causing these issues and I would suggest in the meantime that you have a good read of our helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I am keeping everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be nothing of concern.

Best of luck for tomorrow. I hope the colonoscopy goes well and that you are not feeling too nervous about it.

    Best wishes,
