Feel so unwell - CT scan showed lesion in my liver. Now waiting for a biopsy

Hello,

I am 32 years old with 3 children, I have a heart condition (CCTGA) which was diagnosed coming up to 3 years ago, recently I have lost a fair amount of weight and started feeling tired more and more, went to the GP and had full blood count etc to check literally everything and all came back clear (a relief!) I then got put on the 2WW list and had a CT scan last week which has shown a lesion in my Liver so now I am waiting for a biopsy appointment.

I have never felt this unwell before, I’ve got cold/ flu symptoms and nausea after eating anything, I just feel so drained then add worrying about what could be wrong.

I don’t drink alcohol, don’t smoke or any other things that can cause liver issues, I just feel a little overwhelmed and can’t help but think the worst, waiting for answers is horrible!

My head space is a mess right now!!

  • Hi Natasha

Try not to worry (easier said than done I know!).  Liver lesions are very common, usually found on ultrasounds or ct scans whilst doctors are checking for other things.  Primary liver cancer is very unusual in someone your age unless there are other reasons that the liver has been stressed over a long period of time (usually due to excess alcohol consumption or autoimmune problems)

It is good that you are having a biopsy done, that will be able to hopefully rule out it being malignant.  Depending on the size of it, even if it is benign they may monitor it to check whether it grows (sometimes even benign ones need to be removed if they get too large).

I hope that the doctors soon get to the bottom of what is making you feel so ill.

    Best wishes

    Annie
