Dr. found a lump I didn't know I had, I was concerned about a different lump so super panicked now

Hello every one, I'm hoping there might be someone on here who might have the same symptoms as me and can offer some calming advice.  I went to my gp about a hard lump deep in my upper arm that makes my arm ache.  She asked the usual questions then checked me out and felt under my armpit and said she wasn't sure.  She ordered full bloods which came back normal and refereed me for an ultrasound scan,  I downloaded the nhs app to check the results and the referral states, to scan small lump in arm and there is a large immobile lump in my arm pit,   I didn't know there was a large lump there! I'm now really anxious but trying to prepare myself for the worst case scenario and if I'm wrong that's a huge bonus.  Has anyone else been in a similar situation, my scan is tomorrow morning after a 3 week wait - not sure what questions I can ask of the person doing the scan.  Any advice would be great, thank you everyone. xx

    A very warm welcome to our forum.

    I am sorry to hear that your GP found another lump under your arm, but it is maybe just as well that you went to your GP and that this was noticed. I have a lump on my lower forearm, which has been investigated. This turned out to be a Lipoma (fatty lump), which hasn't changed in years. Hopefully, yours is something similar. If you are only having a scan tomorrow, chances are that you won't get much information from the person carrying this out. It is not really until you speak to the consultant that you will know what you are dealing with and it is only then that you find the right questions to ask.

    Hi Jolamine, thank you for your reply and great news your lump turned out to be a fatty lump.  The waiting is the hardest, and I should not be panicking about the unknown but our imaginations get the better of us. I'll be trying to check the screen tomorrow to see what things look like if I'm allowed. Take care xx

    Hi Furbaby,

    Some operatives tend to turn the screen away from us, but others are happy to show and discuss any anomalies. Waiting is always one of the hardest parts of our cancer journeys and our over active imaginations don't help either. Irrespective of the outcome, you'll feel better once you know the outcome.

    Hi Jolamine, I've had the ultrasound scan and saw the lump in my arm on screen, the technician took measurements but didn't say anything, he scanned my armpit and didn't say much and I didn't see anything on his screen.  He said results will be sent to GP, I asked if he could find a lump in armpit and he said no.  So on the plus side there appears to be no lump in the armpit which is good news I've just got to wait for the results on the arm lump.

    Looking on the positive side, it is reassuring that the technician didn't see a lump under your arm. I am glad to hear that you managed to get a glimpse at the screen and hope that nothing abnormal is detected. I hope that you don't have too long to wait for the result, as this is always an anxious wait.
