Referred to Medical Illustrations for picture of mole - will it be enough to see if it's cancer?

I'm being referred to medical Illustrations for a picture to be taken of a mole that I have. It started as a blood blister got dark, then a few months later it was larger and a little distended. It has now shrunk and losing some pigmentation. Dr Google has me thinking it's regression.

Will a picture be enough to see if it is cancer? Can I request that they biopsy it anyway?

  • My daughter recently had a similar situation. She too went to medical illustrations. It was looked at and was decided that they wanted to remove it and do a biopsy. We were very anxious waiting for the results. Fortunately it came back to be non cancerous. So I think that if they look at your mole and think it  is the least bit worrying they will remove it and do a biopsy. I hope it all goes well.
