Cervical lump

Hi,

I've been having pelvic and lower back pain, prolonged bleeding and abnormal discharge for the past year. All smears before this have been HPV Negative. I was refereed by my GP to my local gynaecologist. I had an appointment at the end of August where I had a transvaginal ultrasound. In the ultrasound they spotted a lump in my cervix and my endometrial wall was very thin at 2.2mm. I have been on the contraceptive implant for the last 13 years.

The gynaecologist wanted to investigate the lump in further detail so requested an MRI scan. Had the MRI scan at the start of October but didn't hear anything from gynaecology team until 27th of Novemeber. They have now requested another transvaginal ultrasound and a normal abdominal ultrasound. Is this common practice to have multiple ultrasounds or should I be worried that it's something more sinister?

Thanks

  • Hello Jellyfish39 and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear about the cervical lump that's been found and that more ultrasounds have been requested after your MRI.

I know this must be worrying but try not to think the worst if you can. Always easier said than done I know, but sometimes quite a few tests need to be carried out before they're able to confirm their findings.

Hopefully some of our members who have found themselves in a similar position will be along soon to share their experiences and advice but if you'd like to talk any of this through with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to answer your questions and put your mind at ease about these tests.

We're here for you Jellyfish39 and will have our fingers crossed everything will be o.k.

    Kind regards,
