Appointment brought forward

Hi I had an appointment 2 weeks ago at the Breast clinic following the GP fast tracking me as I had breast pain. 

The doctor did a full examination and when pressing and squeezing the painful breast she got a bit of discharge out. I've never seen this before and it hasn't happened on its own since. They did an ultrasound there and then and said that breast pain is unlikely to be cancer but will send off sample of discharge for testing. They then sent me a follow up appointment for 31st December.  But today I've received a letter saying they've cancelled that appointment and have brought it forward to 1 weeks time from now.

I suffer badly with anxiety and health anxiety and now I'm panicking that they have brought it forward because there is something bad in the results!

    A very warm welcome to our forum.

    I am sorry to hear about your symptoms and understand your worry about having your appointment brought forward. Please try not to worry about this, as this is not an unusual occurrence. These clinics are all very busy and like to take advantage, by using up any cancellations. There can be a number of these, if, for example, people's treatment schedules change, or results are slow in coming back.

    This will not be a particular indication that there is anything amiss with the results, but possibly, more to do with the fact that the holiday is approaching and they know that the appointments will get scarcer over that time.

    I do hope that all goes well with your appointment next week.

    I just rang the consultant's Secretary to see if she knew why I had been moved forward. She explained that the doctor I saw last time was a nurse registrar and now the results have come back they have decided to put me in the clinic with one of the consultants.

    I asked if this is because it's bad and she said no its just more appropriate to see a consultant rather than a nurse

    I'm glad to hear that you got some clarification about why your appointment has been brought forward and hope that you feel a little happier about this now. It is common practice, where possible for a consultant to see us for our results, irrespective of whether they are good or bad.
