High FIT result

Hi all, had a really stressful week since finding out am anaemic. Doctor fast tracked me for colonoscopy, waiting for that, and ordered a FIT test. That has come back positive - I made the mistake of looking at my test restults on the NHS app and they seem to give the figure as 1700, which seems crazy high!! Needless to say am totally freaking out.

  • Welcome to the forum Lauren although I'm sorry to hear how stressful your week has been.

It's completely understandable, and natural, to be scared after finding out your FIT test results but I hope it helps to know that quite a few of our members have had similar, and in some cases even higher numbers come back, so try not to panic if you can. Much easier said than done I know, but our community are here to support you and hopefully some of them will be along soon to share their experiences and advice.

If you'd like to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to answer your questions and put your mind at ease about what's to come.

We're thinking of you Lauren and wishing you all the best with your colonoscopy when the time comes.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Steph, thanks, good to know there have been numbers as high as that! I really wish I hadn't seen the figure as it has really worried me. That is why I went to doctor in the first place, tiredness, diagnosed with anaemia. Colonoscopy next Saturday, so a week to go. Really trying to keep those very negative thoughts at bay.

  • I didn't think a fit test result could go that high have you queried it with your GP ,I knew they could go into the hundreds but that's an extreme number that I've never seen before ,no harm in checking with your GP before next Saturday .

  • Yes, they can go that high, have come across someone who had a test over 2000, another at 3000, which was ulcerative colitis. I think a lot of people just get told it was greater than 400, without getting an actual number.

  • Wow I didn't know that I freaked out when mine was 51 lol anyway I hope you have a good outcome from your Colonoscopy ...
