Post-Sigmoidoscopy

Hello again. Just wondering, I had a Sigmoidoscopy for bleeding from the rear about 2.5 months ago (was all clear, I had 2 internal haemorrhoids). The thing is, the bleeding started again a while back, same as before, just on the toilet paper, but admittedly not as bad. Is this normal or can haemorrhoids come back that quickly? Just seeing if anyone has any advice as I don't want to go running back to the doctor straight away. Thanks.

  • Just to add, I had a FIT test earlier this year and that was all clear but I have read that might not be 100% accurate all the time? I know the sigmoidoscopy clears me at least halfway, but Its the deeper part that I'm a bit worried about.

  • Hi Phil80,

It sounds like the sigmoidoscopy only flagged haemorrhoids which is very reassuring but as you are worried about the bleeding starting again, it might be worth going back to your GP just to make sure it is definitely linked to the haemorrhoids and also if these are still playing up, you could discuss your options for treating these haemorrhoids. So I think there is no harm in going back to the doctor's and seeking reassurance as well as making sure these internal pesky piles will be dealt with in the most effective way.

I hope that you will hear from others here on the forum who have had similar issues before and that they will pop by and share their experiences with you.

    Best wishes,
