22 years old and worried

Hi,

i am currently waiting on blood results from the doctors but worried about my symptoms.

- moveable, painless small lump at the side of my neck that you can feel but cant see which has been there for over a month now.

- itchy skin (hands, legs, back and armpits)

- feeling tired all the time. not motivated to do anything

- my period has come back after not having one for 5 years due to the implant. come off for a few days and then come back on (i know this is normal for implants but didn't know if it was unusual to get it randomly after so long of them stopping)

- gums bleed every time i brush my teeth. been to the dentist twice over the last 6 months they have bled for but they cant see anything concerning in regards to gum disease etc. moved to soft tooth brush but hasn't made a difference.

- abdomen pain which comes and goes but can sometimes be so bad I cant get out of bed (I usually put this down to period symptoms without a period)

- Feeling cold all the time but sweating during the day to the point where my clothes have big marks under the arm pits.

I know this is most likely be nothing as my lump is not firm but my mum is currently going through breast cancer treatment so my mind is doing overdrive. wondered if anyone else has experienced symptoms similar to this.

  • Hello LPK-7,

I remember replying to your other thread when you were worried about your mum and I am sorry that she is currently going through breast cancer treatment. As you say, with your mum going through breast cancer treatment, it is easy for your mind to be going into overdrive and therefore every symptom you experience can make you even more worried and you are more likely to be understandably very anxious about cancer given what your mum has been going through.

You did well to see a doctor about your symptoms and about this lump you found at the side of your neck and it's good that they are running tests to try and find out what is causing these issues. I hope that you won't have to wait too long for your blood results - while you are waiting it is a good idea to keep well away from the temptation to look things up online as this will never give you any proper answers and will only bring up the most unlikely worst case scenarios making you even more worried. It won't be long now until you find out more about what is causing these symptoms and I hope that you will get the reassurance you need very soon. Have a look too at our helpful tips which will you give you some good strategies to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I hope that you will also hear from other members of our community who have experienced similar symptoms before and I am keeping everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be nothing to worry about.

I also wanted to wish your mum the very best of luck for the rest of her breast cancer treatment. How has it all been going for her?

    Best wishes,
