Hi Laura -Snap! I found out last week I have a 5.5cm lump, left breast. Am waiting for biopsy results. Total nightmare. As some other women in my family had breast cancer (no gene - just bad luck) I don't think the prognosis will be good. I have 2 kids and a lovely hubby and it all seems so unfair. Looking at this forum has helped me as so many people are dealing with cancer in different ways, it has made me feel less alone. There are so many different pathways and treatments, I am trying to hope for the best.  Keeping myself busy by doing work tasks and errands but really all I am thinking about are the results. I have started eating really healthily as a way of making myself feel positive and am trying to Google low GI recipes, rather than cancer stats, but it is hard!!  Good luck with the results. Let me know how it goes. Try and focus on the good stuff and kiss those kids!!!! xx

I am sorry to hear that you are both waiting for results. Most of us would agree that this is one of the hardest parts of our cancer journey. Our emotions are all over the place and our over active imaginations only make thins seem worse. Our thoughts naturally turn to our partners and children. 

Try to avoid consulting "Dr Google". Much of the information is out of date, poorly researched and aimed at the more spectacular cases. It won't pertain to you and will only serve to scare you further. It is not unusual for us to fear the worst at this stage, but fortunately this seldom happens.

I lost my mum to secondary breast cancer before I was diagnosed and was naturally terrified, when I was first diagnosed. I had 2 young teenage children at that time and feared for their futures too. I had 2 bouts of breast cancer, within a year of each other. I had a lumpectomy first time around and a double mastectomy for the second bout. There was just no comparison between the diagnosis, treatment and aftercare which we both had and so much more can be done for cancer nowadays. It is now 14 years since I was first diagnosed and I still lead a busy and fulfilling life.

I don't know whether or not you're aware that, of all the people who are referred to the breast clinic, only 20% will get a cancer diagnosis. The other 80% may have benign cysts, fibroadenoma, naturally lumpy breasts, or may be completely free of anything untoward.

I’m also waiting on biopsy results go back next Thursday and it’s just mind consuming .. I have a large lump in my right breast but mammogram n scan are saying it’s not a lump but abnormal tissue and I have one raised lymph gland , very frightened I and 46 with two adult children and then two boys age 12 and 8 trying my best to be positive it’s difficult for sure x
