Womb Cancer

Hi everyone, new here, looking for some advice.  In May I had a hysteroscopy due to having an abnormal smear. A polyp was removed and biopsy done, all clear. My 5 weeks ago I started bleeding. I've not had a period for around 15 years. Was on the mini pill until December last year. This period got heavier so spoke with GP. Was told to go back on thr mini pill then prescribed Provera. The feeling just got heavier.  I was losing a lot of blood. My GP sent me to A&E on Monday. I got kept in for the night. Was given tranexamic acid. Got internal Monday night along with fluids. Yesterday I had an ultrasound external and internal. I was told my lining was thick so will need a hysteroscopy. I will receive an appointment before Xmas. The doctors told me that I would be knocked out as it was so painful the last time? That was not the case as I didn't find it painful. I know this for a fact as my friend had had one 2 weeks before and found this agony. I'm really lost. Why was I not told this after my last hysteroscopy? Now I'm really worried that if this is cancer it could of been spotted in May. I've been discharged, bleeding isn't as heavy and still have some pain in my stomach and lower back. Anyone had anything similar?. Thanks xx

  • Sorry meant to add I'm 51. Thanks

  • Hello Gillian

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some ongoing health problems over the past few months and that you're now waiting for further investigations following a recent ultrasound. It's understandable that you have questions.

Regarding your concerns related to the scan you had earlier in the year, I'd suggest contacting the hospital PALS team. It's part of their role to help resolve concerns or problems when you're using the NHS.

If you'd like to talk through your concerns with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I hope that you don't have to wait too long for your appointment and that the specialists can give you some answers and clarity on things.

Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
