I had a CT scan with contrast a back in May, I had no reactions whatsoever from it.  You do feel a little bit odd when they put the contrast in, you can get a warm feeling that sweeps down your body, but it soon passes.  I had no other feelings and I have had no problem with extra hair loss (and my hair does normally come out at an alarming rate too!  Think its probably something to do with my age, 56 yrs old).

I am sure that you will be fine, and I think that the contrast does help highlight things, to give a better chance of identifying things and making a diagnosis.  So if you can cope with it, it is probably best to have it.

All the best for it, like most things, thinking about it is worse than the reality!

I'm thankful for your comment Annie it helps a lot ,I was wondering if they gave you a choice of contrast as I'm very prone to allergies as in I get rashes from the sun and prickly heat ,also when I was younger my eyes lips and tongue used to swell up for no reason and they never found out why do you think I should mention this ??

                    had my last one two weeks ago having had several over the past ten years .No problems whatsoever and think that if you trying to find out potential health issues why would you not do it 100% to give yourself the benefit of the best result since the fear of the unknown only exists up until the point of doing something, l still have my hair and more importantly no doubts as to anything sinister going on within my body which means my anxiety levels are down at zero,  hope you manage the same too,

By all means mention it to them, hopefully they can reassure you then.  I could be wrong, but I think that the contrast can help indicate to the doctors whether any lumps have a vascular nature within them, which lets face it, is what we really want to know!

Maybe put a separate post on here for 'ask the nurses'?  Or alternatively, if you have a telephone number for the imaging department at the hospital, you could ring them and ask the question in advance.

Hi yes it went fine and very quick ,I had rang them up to ask if I could have it done without contrast ,after speaking to a few different people who were telling me its better done with contrast ,one of them said I'll have a word with the Consultant and she apparently said we prefer to do it with contrast but it shouldn't make much difference without so that's what happened ,now I await any results ,its quite nerve racking waiting I had a clear Colonoscopy a week ago and all bloods that were done were fine but it still leaves you in doubt ..
