Worried about ovarian cancer

So I have had non specific symptoms since the end of May and I am feeling more poorly as time goes on, I had a CT scan, multiple blood tests done and they found a lucent lesion within the t10 vertebrae, I know I probably shouldn’t read google but when I googled it, it said it could be linked to certain cancers including ovarian cancer.

My symptoms are itchy skin, night sweats, back pain in the middle of my back, feeling fully quickly after eating, I sometimes get abdominal bloating, very frequent urination, feeling fatigue heartburn which wasn’t one of my first symptoms and when me and my partner recently had intercourse it felt quite uncomfortable, I  also can’t eat as much as I used to, sometimes get abdominal pain and I have lost over 5kg in weight.

I also seem to be forgetting things easily but I don’t know if that’s down to tiredness.
I thought it was my pancreas causing these symptoms but my amylase levels are fine and the Dr said my CT scan would have shown something wrong.

I have been to the doctors multiple times and to A&E when the pain was really bad. The doctors have now handed me down to a clinician, so I don’t even know what they will be able to do for me, I am still waiting to get my spine looked at, please help I have a little boy partner and dog so I wouldn’t want to leave them. I don’t feel like am been taken seriously anymore by the doctors.

  • Hi Nic108,

It sounds like you have had a really stressful time recently and I am so sorry to hear that you are feeling more poorly as time goes on. It's good that they have been thorough and you had a CT scan as well multiple blood tests.

You are right when you say it is best to avoid googling - even though it is really tempting to do it and we have all done it! - but invariably Google will bring up worst case scenarios that are really unlikely and which have nothing to do with your particular case so it's best to ignore Google and focus on what the medical experts are telling you. There are so many other things which could cause your symptoms other than ovarian cancer so it is important to bear this in mind. I think you can trust your doctor when they say that your CT scan would have flagged that something was wrong with your pancreas so that is reassuring but as your symptoms are not getting any better and are having an impact on your wellbeing, you deserve to have some answers. Do you know when you will be seeing the clinician? I hope that you get your appointment soon and that they will be able to help you understand what is going on. If you feel that you are not being taken seriously, you can also consider seeking a second opinion

Waiting for answers, results or simply to be seen by a specialist can be nerve-racking and days can feel endless in a situation like this so I thought I would share with you these helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I also hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have been through something similar before and experienced similar issues and I will let them come and say hello and share their experience with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that you get some definite answers soon and that it all turns out to be nothing of concern. I also hope that your symptoms will improve very soon.

    Best wishes,
