Endometrial thickness of 18mm

Wondering if anyone else on here has had a diagnosis of endometrial cancer without having a biopsy.  I had a TVU a couple of weeks ago and a short but sweet letter arrived saying my endometrial thickness was 18mm and a date for biopsy would follow shortly but instead I have a letter to see the gynecologist.

Will a letter arrive before my gynecologist appointment to have a biopsy?  Or do you think they just might take my uterus out as my endometrial lining is just to think

  • Hi Lindyloo38,

I hope that you will hear from others on this forum who have been through a similar process and that they will be along shortly to share their story with you. I am not sure really whether the letter will arrive before your appointment - it might be worth giving your doctor or the gynecologist's secretary a call so that they clarify for you what will happen when as I can understand you want to know what to expect.

Our nurses might also be able to guide you further so don't hesitate to give them a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

Best of luck for your appointment - I hope that all goes well and that you find out more soon as to what the next steps might be.

  • Thank you Lucie,

I took your advice and phoned the secretary for Gynaecology.  The appointment I have is for a biopsy but nowhere on the letter does it state that this is what the appointment is for. No leaflet about how to prepare for the procedure such as taking pain relief before hand, best clothing to put on, if you need to take time off work etc.

    Very poor information given.

Thanks again Lucie for giving me a push to do something.
