Waiting for MRI results & appointments for one stop diagnostic service

I had an MRI scan done one the 9th October and on the same day I received a one stop diagnostic referral after being referred to 2ww. It’s making it difficult to concentrate on work mainly and kind of catastrophising thinking that’s there’s not much point planning for the future.

I’ve called the hospital twice asking about the MRI results and further appointments and they just keep saying they will contact me. I know the NHS is under a lot of pressure but I really just want to know.

    I'm sorry to hear that you're currently waiting for MRI results and an appointment with the specialist. We know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be very difficult and it's natural that your mind wanders to the worst-case scenarios. 

    It can help to talk with someone about your concerns and questions and I wonder if you might find it helpful to chat things through with one of our nurses whilst you're waiting for news. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040. 

    Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long to see the specialist and they will have all the information they need from the MRI scan to be able to discuss the next recommended steps with you.
