For a couple of weeks I noticed blood and mucus in my stools and stomach upset. I have complex chronic pain, so passed off the stomach upset (nausea and some cramping) and a history piles which I had surgery on in 2011, so again assumed it could be internal. But I didn’t have any of the other symptoms or issues in relation to piles. So I braved the doctor who confirmed it’s not piles but due to the symptoms and family history of bowel cancer, she has done an urgent referral and started with the tests in preparation.
I was wondering what other people’s experiences have been with my symptoms and wondering how they will get in touch with me? If the FIT results come back before my referral, will the gp tell me, or do I have to wait for the appointment? I’m going to be honest and say I’m very scared, I have 2 children and one has special needs.
