Biopsy on neck lymph node still swollen

Hi, I had A biopsy on an enlarged lymph node in my neck five days ago (in fact, the sonographer, who did the ultrasound and biopsy told me that there were two nodes which didn’t look quite right, so she took a sample from both). She said I would have bruising and discomfort for a few days, but although the bruising is going down, the lump in my neck is over twice the size it was before the biopsy, and it’s really tender to the touch, whereas before it didn’t hurt at all. It’s the weekend, and I’m worrying, don’t want to bother the NHS and just wondered if anybody else had experiences, and whether it was normal?

  • Hello Biddypops,

I am sorry to hear the lump in your neck has doubled in size after the biopsy and is really tender to the touch. It's normal to be concerned and to seek medical advice and I hope that you will hear from the experiences of others who have had something similar in the past. I know it's the weekend but you won't bother the NHS at all I promise  even over the weekend so don't hesitate to call 111 for advice on what to do and they will tell you whether they think you should get this looked at.

I hope that it all gets better and settles down soon for you.

    Best wishes,
