How do you cope with limbo?

Morning all,

I am currently on the 2 week bowel cancer pathway after a positive FIT test of 293.5. I also pretty much tick every single box for bowel cancer symptoms. I have my colonoscopy booked for Sunday and about to start my prep for this. My question to you, is how did you cope with being in limbo, between getting your initial results and then finally getting an appointment for further tests? I feel incredibly restless, with low mood and constant worrying. I am noticing everything and questioning it as a symptom now so I am getting a little neurotic! Any advice would be massively appreciated!

Thanks so much xx

  • Hi Disasterbowels92 and welcome to the forum.

Waiting for tests and for the results to come through afterwards can be very tough. Many of our members have actually found this to be the hardest part of the process, so you are not alone in how you are feeling at the moment Disasterbowels92, and I'm sure it won't be long until you receive some support and advice.

I hope some of these suggestions we have on how to cope with waiting for news will help, but if you feel it may help to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all that they can to put your mind at ease whilst you wait.

We're thinking of you Disasterbowels92 and wishing you all the best with your prep and colonoscopy on Sunday.

    Kind regards,
