I've been fast track referred for a mole on my back which is dark, irregular and 7mm at widest point. It's been there a long time but I haven't noticed the change in colour/size as it's on my back and life is busy so I haven't been vigilant about keeping an eye. The skin specialist nurse noticed it when I was asking her about an itchy patch elsewhere on my back (which she thought was not concerning). She seemed very worried about this mole as a possible melanoma and referred straight away. She was not at all reassuring. I'm beside myself. I have three very young children and it would be absolutely catastrophic for them if I died. I'm terrified. I've got an appointment for photos of the mole to be taken on Monday and then consultant will review and decide if I need to be seen in person and whether to remove. I don't know how to cope with the wait. Any words of wisdom?
