Thickened Uterine lining

Hello,  I’ve been on hrt for 4 years, the last few months I’ve started bleeding just on odd days.  I’ve had a pelvic scan and a transvaginal ultrasound.  This showed the thickening to my uterine lining.  I’m waiting for appt for biopsies to be taken.
im so worried that there’s something wrong.
I have pelvic pain and lower back pain .

  • I'm glad they'll biopsy the thickening. My mum had endometrial cancer and they got it out with a hysterectomy but she'd been told for years it was just thickening with no biopsy. I hope your biopsy is negative. I've had it done before and although it's not comfortable it's not the worst and mine came back negative. I know it's scary but they're doing the right stuff x

  • Hi, Thankyou for sharing this, my lining shows as thickened and they have taken two biopsy’s ( the first one was void as the dr didn’t know what he was doing wnd and the results came back three weeks later ‘vois’ I am still awaiting the second biopsy taken over three weeks ago - so have been waiting since the 22/11 for an answer - still bleeding.

i was just wondering - how thick was your Mums uterus showing as? Mine is 10mm we measured on the 29/11

they have messed up so much I don’t want to miss anything

    thankyou

  • Hi Jane, sorry about the worry you are going through right now. I am going through similar. Would you mind sharing the thickness of your uterus wall?

i had been on hrt for six months when excessive blessing and pain started - post menopause for two years before that

biopsy taken 22/11 ( came back 3 weeks later as void - dr didn’t take the sample correctly as it contained no endometrial cells) on the 13/12 I had another biopsy ( still awaiting results ) and a hysteroscopy which showed no fibroids or polyps etx

it is q worrying time - especially when unnecessary delays occurs because of clinical mistakes etc

i also have lower pain and bleeding - blood is red

I hope that you are ok and that they find answers for you asap

  • My mum was never told how thick it was. Not when it was first discovered or years later when it had become cancerous. I double checked with her before replying. The first time they didn't have the diligence to do a biopsy despite her being symptomatic. I think women's health problems haven't always been taken seriously enough.

  • I am so sorry about that. It is wrong to treat people that way. I think that  it sadly comes down to the Dr you see and the health board or hospital that they work for. I was told that a 10mm uterus wall was normal for someone during menopause and on HRT however every top institute information I read tells me otherwise - this was from the second biopsy Dr - the sonogram findings and the 1st  gynaecologist that saw these referred me urgently so she didn’t think it was normal thickness for someone my age. All of the data states that if over 5mm

and bleeding then it isn’t normal - if under 10mm but no bleeding then to be monitored. Your mother obviously was in the bleeding category so it was wrong of them to not do a biopsy
