Hi guys. Soo...

I have suspected head and neck cancer. Was sent by my doctor for an ultrasound who said I had a large neck growth and done biopsy to take some tissue there and then. Really worried as this then led to me needing to be seen by ENT in 2 wks Max. 

Having contacted them after a week, I have been told that it is with triage and they are waiting on my results from Norwich hospital to send to my own hospital. Am waiting on a phone call to tell me what happens next - now 11 days after my biopsy. Very stressed!!! My referral form says lump is 5cms. Had look on Google (I know I shouldn't), but need to know what I may be dealing with...don't sound great tbh. 

Any support or comments would be appreciated - thanks in advance x

Sorry to hear about your suspected head and neck cancer. Having gone through a similar experience last year I totally understand how you are feeling. 
The limbo period between having a biopsy and results can be an extremely anxious time. I would steer clear of google and stick to trusted more informative sites like this one and MacMillan. I was diagnosed with cancer last October and am now 12 weeks post treatment ( chemotherapy and radiotherapy) also has to have my tonsils removed mid November last year.  Due to have my scan in two weeks to see if  the treatment was successful. 

Regarding your results, you should hear something soon ( I received mine after about 10 days).  Please try not get stressed ( I know it it’s easier said than done) but if you are on a cancer pathway from your GP things will move very quickly.

As you say, the waiting bit is hard when you don't really know what it defo is. The ultrasound I had ten days ago showed it was about 5cm which is also stated on the referral form, so is a large one. Noticed it about 7 weeks ago and initially I went to doctors and was told it may be strep throat as had white patches in mouth, but after a swab..came back fine, as did my bloods. 

Do have a mild sore throat that is just that...no main cough as such. Lump is firm and not painful at all. Don't want to think negatively, but also a realist and think it probably is a cancer. 

Hopefully will hear back asap...will keep you posted if ok.?

thanks, hope you hear from the hospital soon.  I had a lump about the same size as yours.  I got my diagnosis in October, then everything went so fast.  I had a PET-CT Scan followed by an operation to remove my tonsils in November.  Then underwent six weeks of radiotherapy and five weeks chemotherapy.  It was tough but I’m now 12 weeks post treatment and due for a scan in two weeks to see how effective the treatment was.  It’s been a rollercoaster ride but the hospital, doctors, and NHS have been amazing.  being on these forums was a great help too .  I have spoken to others with the same types of cancer who have been successfully treated.  I really hope that all goes well with your results, let me know how you get on.  If you want to chat just drop me a line here.

Sooo..I finally got my appointment. They rung me this afternoon and asked if I can go in tomoro at 1010. Will see what they say and what the plan is. Pleased I now have appointment but anxious about the results.
