Second tests on lymph node biopsy

Can anyone help me understand what is going on?

I found a large lump in my right armpit which was initially thought to be a muscle injury or cyst has now turned out to be a very enlarged lymph node. I only have one enlarged and the rest including the other armpit are fine.

I had a biopsy on Wednesday which has come back showing some suspicious calcification so needs to be further tested by pathology. I’ve been booked in for a CT scan and appointment with a breast surgeon on Friday but they said the tests on the biopsy for breast cancer were clear.

Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated as I am terrified

  • Hi Concerned23,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

It is great news that your biopsy results have come back clear for breast cancer. Calcification can sometimes indicate an early cancer or something to monitor on a routine basis. It sounds as if your care team are being very thorough and want to investigate this further with a CT scan.

It is always a worrying time when you need additional tests, but sometimes it is necessary to clarify the situation. I sincerely hope that the breast surgeon can set your mind to rest on Friday.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you I have been sent for a breast MRI today and my CT scan is pending a blood test. I am so confused by what’s going on I have been left to guess that the reason they are doing a breast MRI is to ensure there is no trace of cancer at all in the breast and if it is just in the lymph node??
