Hi all.

Ive had this strip running down the length of my nail for around 2 years now that ive been concious of and have had in the back of my head as a sign of a subungal melanoma. however i've never gone to the gp as my mum insisted it would be nothing (i am u18). The cuticle has never healed.

i would be very grateful if anyone knows anything about this and if i should urge my mum on.

Always best to check and better safe than sorry. Can you not make an appointment with GP yourself and go on your own or with a friend ?

I think if you are worried about something, it's a good idea to go to the GP. If your mum is right and it is nothing, then going is a really good idea as it prevents you from worrying over nothing and on the off-chance it is something, then the sooner you get treatment the better.

Yes, please see your GP. Although subungual melanoma isn't common & it's also uncommon for someone your age to get it, it still needs checking out. Urge your mum that it needs checking asap. Good luck and please let us know how you get on,
