HPV positive worried about getting cervical cancer

I’m a young mum of 2 children and so worried about getting cancer I have had a HPV positive result 2 years in a row now and my mental health takes a hit every time I get the test results. I’m just after some reassurance from someone who has been in a similar situation and can offer some words of advice. I tried to speak to my doctor but she was rude and rushed me off so here I am, worried, upset and looking for some comfort… thank you and sending well wishes to everyone

  • Hello C98X,

It's normal to be worried after getting a HPV positive result and it can be hard to get answers on this. I am sorry that your doctor rushed you and didn't address you concerns especially as HPV can be difficult to understand and it is important that you get all the facts on what HPV is and reassurance too.

We have information on our website about HPV which you may find helpful and which will I hope make you feel less worried.

I would also advise you get in touch with our nurses for information or support and you may find it helpful to talk things through with them on our helpline. They will take the time you need to answer your questions about HPV. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

There are many members of our community who have been in a similar situation to you who have been HPV positive too and I am sure that they will be along shortly to offer words of comfort and advice.

    Best wishes,
