Sorry this is a long one. But just don’t know how or what to feel at the moment.
so, back in march my daughter turned 12. when she had this awful pain in lower back and was sick awful. The following week it continued. I took her to the gp who seemed bothered, they checked her urine and had bloods done there and then. Her bloods came back showing low vitamin d. I spoke with a different doctor on the phone who told me to come back with her to see another gp. The go we saw wasn’t very bothered and said that her vitamin d levels were in fact fine. I then came home to a letter saying her vitamin d levels were actually low!
we were also given a letter for her to have an X-ray but they wouldn’t do it because of the location and the high amount of radiation. She was then booked in to see the trauma and orthopaedic unit. I was told this was an emergency appointment. Still nothing in July, I emailed and was told it could take up to 43 weeks for her to be seen. We went back to the gp who then booked her in for physio.
we ended up back up to see the gp again on Friday just gone. So an amazing woman doctor. Listened to all that’s been going on, how she has this localised pain that’s always there. How it wakes her how her bones feel like they’re rubbing together, how she can’t walk far, how she only did 2 rolls in pe on Wednesday and now she can’t bend. The list goes on.
the doctor was livid! Said that in fact my daughter had only been booked in for a routine when in fact “ her symptoms are serious and should be treated as an emergency”
she had her to have more bloods done and even contacted the hospital so we have an appointment on the 2nd oct.
she couldn’t believe that nobody had requested a scan or anything.
so now I’m even more worried from how she reacted. My head is thinking over time. Plus without thinking the doctor spoke openly in front of my daughter who is also really scared now.
So sorry for the long message but I can’t believe there a possibility that my daughter could be seriously unwell and nobody would listen.
