Urgent mri and panendoscopy.

Hi! Just looking for some advice really as the waiting is messging with my head.

Last Monday I saw ent (wasn't my appointment I'm still on the waiting list) but I was there with my son and ask them to do my appointment as i was there.

The consultant was reluctant but then agreed I've been on the waiting list for a year and a half.

The audiologist done my hearing test and confirmed I have bilateral sensorineural hearing loss and a flat tympanogram.

The consultant was then concerned about fluid behind my ears.

He tried to perform a nasendoscopy and struggled due to finding what he has described as a bulky lymphoid tissue with and unusual appearance.

I've had a mri 2 days later and now a panendoscopy and biopsy of the nasal space passage is being done on 30th September. This is all under the 2 week rule pathway.

Is this what I'm expecting the news to be or am I just panicking?

Any advice would be appreciated

  • Hello Kmil90

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been undergoing some tests following an appointment with the ENT specialist. It's understandable that you're feeling concerned about things.

It sounds like the specialist is being thorough in trying to get a clear diagnosis of what is causing your symptoms. We know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be difficult. I wonder if you might find it helpful to talk things through with one of our nurses. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. If you'd like to talk with them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that over the coming weeks you get some answers and clarity on the next steps. Do let us know when you have some news.

    Best wishes,
