Breast biopsy

Hi ya.
I had an ultrasound scan on my Lt breast on Friday which confirmed I had 2 lumps (I only knew about 1) they done a biopsy on them there and then. The dr told me at least 5 days for the results which as you can all imagine I’m worried sick it’s something bad. They didn’t explain why they are doing the biopsy. What I’m wondering is would they be done on cysts, Fibroadenoma or of course on a tumour. How will they contact me with the results? It says every trust is different. I should of asked all of these questions but when the word biopsy was mentioned my mind just went blank

thank you x

  • Hi Charl1304 and welcome to the forum.

Waiting for results is always a very challenging and anxious time but I hope it helps to know that so many of our members have been in this position too, so you are not alone Charl1304, and hopefully it won't be long until some of them stop by to offer their support and advice.

If you have a contact number for the clinic/hospital that carried out your ultrasound and biopsy, do be sure to give them a call as I'm sure they will be happy to answer your questions and address any other worries or concerns that may be playing on your mind.

We also have a team of very insightful and supportive cancer nurses you can talk to on 0808 800 4040. Their helpline is open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all that they can to help.

I hope you're able to get some answers to your questions soon Charl1304 and that the results bring good news when they come through.

    Kind regards,
