Private v NHS wait time for colonoscopy

Hi all, I had a positive FIT test and need to be referred for a

colonoscopy. The GP sent the NHS referral last night and said I will hear something within 2 weeks - no guarantee I will have colonoscopy by then. I also asked him to do a private referral for our healthcare that we have so that I can take whichever appt comes first. 
has anybody else dealt with both systems and which is quicker? Our health insurance is through Axa.

    Welcome to Cancer Chat. It's difficult to answer which might be quicker and exactly how it will work out for you, but hopefully you will hear soon one way or the other as you are exploring multiple routes. And if others here have similar experience to share then hopefully you'll get some more replies to your post soon.
