Intermittent neck swelling + other symptoms

Hi

I am having a very anxious evening and think I just need to vent? Maybe see if anyone has had similar issues.

I have been having intermittent neck swelling since June on the right side of my neck. It’s mostly by the evening my neck on the right side gets huge but I can’t feel any obvious lumps. I had a neck ultrasound and they couldn’t see anything there.

I also have insane itching to point I bruise or bleed, intense upper stomach pain on the left and right side that I’ve been to A&E and the GP for numerous times and the fatigue is something else, I sleep more than I’m awake and can hardly get out of bed on the weekends. I’ve also recently been struggling with nausea and finding loosing weight much easier than normal. I have had all the blood work and US investigations for gallbladder, liver etc, all ‘grossly normal’ as I had a lot of gas so nothing could be seen clearly. Chest xray also appeared normal too.

I am now waiting on a CT and just very anxious and fed up with being so unwell. I’m 28 and struggling to do well at work or maintain any sort of a social life

  • Hi Dottybx,

It sounds like you have had a really stressful time and I can imagine you must be needing some answers now after being unwell for so long especially as this is interfering with your work and social life. Hopefully the CT scan will shed some light on what is going on and it's only a matter of time now and you will soon get a definite diagnosis.

Waiting for results is so difficult and the anxiety as you are waiting can be really high so I thought I would send you these helpful tips which I hope will help you cope while waiting to find out more.

I will also let other members of our community who have had similar symptoms come and say hello and share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that you get some clarity on this soon and that it all turns out to be nothing of concern.

    Best wishes,
