went for a ultrasound and doctors want to see me

Hiya,

I might be worrying over nothing but I went for a ultrasound on my abdomen area due to stomach pain I was experiencing. During the ultrasound the doctor found shadows and took lots of pictures of it etc and I tried not thinking about it. 2 working days later I get a message from my gp asking me to make a routine appointment which I wasn't able to do as I was on holiday but I have now booked it and it's over a week away which is fine.

Usually with tests if it's clear they tell me over text so this is the first time I've been kinda asked to come back in after a test. Do you think this is anything to be potentially worried for I'm trying not to think about it but with some recent family diagnosis I'm a little anxious I won't lie and not sure what to expect. Obviously searching online really doesn't help which I've tried to avoid doing but if someone could me if I'm being too anxious over nothing or it's alright to be semi anxious

Thank you

  • Welcome to the forum Anyalj although I'm sorry to hear about the shadows that appeared on your ultrasound and for the worry this and your upcoming appointment with your GP is causing.

It's difficult not to be anxious in situations like these, especially when someone in your family has recently been diagnosed with cancer, but I hope some of these tips we have on how to cope with waiting for news will help to steady your nerves until you know more.

Many of our members have been in similar situations, so you are not alone, and I'm sure some of our members will be along soon to offer their support and advice.

We're wishing you all the best for next week Anyalj and will have our fingers crossed for good news.
