Breast lump, what does yours feel like.

Hi All.

I'm just wondering what your breast lump actually feels like? And if you have been diagnosed what did yours feel like and did you have any other symptoms other than a lump?

I have a lump right behind my right nipple, it feels around 2.5cm and moves. It doesn't feel like a round stone it almost feels flat but long, imagine a hard mini chicken fillet! I do have fibrous breasts, I also haven't self examined for years so no idea how long it's been there.

I have severe health anxiety and it's consuming me, I'm really struggling

  • Hi Foll,

Mine felt like a marble; it didn't move and I couldn't feel right the way around it, it felt like one side of it merged into the surrounding tissue. There was a dent in the skin over the lump but it didn't hurt and wasn't remotely tender or anything like that.

Have you made an appointment with your GP to get it checked out? I know it is super worrying but try to remember that over 80% of breast lumps turn out not to be cancer x

  • I have put an online request with my GP this morning so just have to wait for them to contact me.

Was yours behind your nipple? And could you feel it no matter if you were lay down, stood up ect?

Mines not painful or tender either, infact I banged my breast and it was really sore which is what made me have a feel but the pain disappeared within 2 days.

I feel so stupid as I've never checked my breasts before so no idea how long I've had it for.

Hope your doing well and thank you for responding I'm an absolute mess

  • No, mine was to the right and up a bit from the nipple, they call it the upper outer quadrant. Mine disappeared when I lay down, but I have quite big boobs. I had to have my biopsies done half sitting up because when I lay down the radiographer couldn't find it!

If you've previously bashed your breast it could well be bruised tissue, I've seen a few cases around the forum where lumps have turned out to be bruises or scar tissue. Hopefully you will get your GP appointment soon - might be worth giving them a ring to speed things up?
