After pipelle biopsy and coil fitting.

After suffering heavy menstrual bleeding for 10 weeks, and my hemoglobin levels dropping to 73 I was sent to gynecology dept as an emergency case and ended up having to have a blood transfusion and then USS, which showed womb lining was 11mm so then ordered to have a pipelle biopsy and a levosert coil fitted (to control the bleeding) this was on 22/08/24. I'm 44 (and premenopausal but according to my discharge notes I have a history of 10/12 months postmenopausal bleeding?? News to me) I'm still suffering with some very uncomfortable cramping pains, luckily the bleeding has stopped but I'm also taking medroxyprogesterone 10mg twice daily, I haven't been told how long I should be taking these and also wasn't informed if I should go back to my iron tablets as HB is still at 94. Also have the worry now of a 6 week wait for the biopsy results. Was hoping to get an appointment to clear up concerns with my GP but forgot about bank holiday.

  • Hello Lou-wheezy,

It can feel like a nerve-wracking time to wait for results, but there are way you can cope and help you take your mind off things. You can have a look at on our website for tips on waiting for news.

    I hope this is useful,
