Good news/Bad news

After being diagnosed with prostate cancer I had a successful prostatectomy. During the operation an abnormality was discovered in my bladder which needed further investigation. Afte a cystoscoy I was advised a tumour had formed in my bladder and I am now waiting for a CT urogram to be followed with a resection of the bladder cancer tumour. Has anybody experienced this and what may I expect for the future?

  • Hello Johlyn

I'm sorry to hear that following successful treatment for prostate cancer you've been advised that you now need surgery for a tumour on your bladder. It's understandable that you may have concerns and questions about the surgery and what this may mean for you.

Has the hospital told you how long you may have to wait for the CT scan? Hopefully it won't be too long and the results will give the specialists the information they need to move forward with your surgery and hopefully offer some reassurance.

In the meantime, if you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to give them a call. I know they will be happy to offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that you have some positive news soon Johlyn. Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • CT scan to take place on 4 Sept. Provisional date for surgery 23 Sept. I know it is not too far off but the waiting part is the worst.
