Changing Polyps within Appendix

Hi, I had an acute appendicitis taken out on the 3rd of July. 6 weeks later I received a letter in the post saying there was nothing sinister found in my appendics but they did find changing polyps and they have booked a colonoscopy appointment on 4th of September. I haven't been able to ask any questions because I only received a letter. I have done the worst thing by looking on Google for  polyps in the appendics. It is rare apparently, just wondered if anyone else has had dealings with this. I am hoping for a clear colonoscopy but my appointment seems so far away it's hard not to worry. S

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Sharon although I'm sorry to hear about the polyps that were found on your appendix, and for the worry this is causing.

Google is never our friend in situations like these so if you can, try to resist looking on there as the information provided is very generalised and will only make your fears and worries worse.

Hopefully you will hear back from some of our members soon but if you'd like to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They will do all they can to support you and put your mind at ease whilst you wait.

We're thinking of you Sharon and wishing you all the best with your colonoscopy next month.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Thanks Steph, I received a further letter yesterday advising that what they actually found was a low grade mucin tumour. I have now been referred to hospital and will receive a Ct and bloods aswell as the Colonoscopy. Fingers crossed it was localised.

Will stay positive and off Google.

    Take Care
