Appointment with gynaecological oncology tomorrow after ovarian mass increasing in size

Hello,

I was referred by one of my other consultants (colorectal) to gynaecology as during a pelvis MRI they found a growing mass on my ovary. I was told it was a routine referral from my GP, but I have seen on the appointment description it is with gynaecological oncology and I was called last week to ask if I could go in this week (tomorrow). I had originally had an appointment in October.

Does this mean they suspect it could be cancer?

I’m really anxious about it as it was a complete shock to see I had an appointment in that clinic.

  • I'm sorry to hear about the mass that's been found growing on your ovary io123, and that no-one was able to get back to you before you had your appointment.

I do hope your appointment went well and the gynaecology oncology department were able to address some of your questions and concerns, but if there is anything else playing on your mind that you'd like to discuss with one of our cancer nurses, they're just a phone call away on 0808 800 4040. Their helpline is open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they'll do all they can to support you and put your mind at ease about anything else that was discussed and you're unsure of.

We're here for you io123 and hopefully it won't be long until you receive some support and advice from the community.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
