Can anyone relate ? Help :-(

Good morning all

So my awful journey has now been going on for 8weeks

Short version , found lump on my right shoulder/back )bra strap area I'd say ..

Went to Dr's got referred for ultra sound and bloods ,

Bloods come back fine just low vitamin D

2 x ultra sounds done . Told will need mri as it's complex they don't know what it is but the vascular concerns them

Lump is roughly 2cm

Week or so later mri done and again no answers other then I need be referred to specialist team...

So after ultrasounds ,bloods, mri all which happened within 3weeks I'd say im now being told they still don't know but its a soft tissue lump within the fat/muscle with vascularity..

Refferal letter says suspected cancer to the sorcuma team .

Doctor (my gp) says not to read into that as they have reffer under suspected to get seen on the 2week act (his obs trying not to freak me out ) BUT he tells me they still can't say what it is hence Refferal and probably a biopsy??

Soooo anyways im now under the specialist team and they have told me the 2week referral doesn't work like that there this is at a hospital and its all done on criteria and have given me an appointment 4weeks after the letter of Refferal!! So my appointment is the 19th August, receptionist said its the date she was asked to book me in by the specialist (as I asked don't they have anything sooner) she said he based on critia I told her this has been going on now for while surley if its suspected cancer I should be seen sooner ? Then to be told the chances of them doing biopsy on first appointment could happen BUT unlikely its more meet and examination then decide on next step ! I'm like what the hell!!! Suspected cancer and this I'd the slowest process yet ...

I'm just broken arm 8 weeks of worrying isn't good for my body or my family I feel the stress is making more symptoms which then makes me worry more ...;-(

Is this normal to make you wait ???

  • Hello Mumaof2,

Poor you, 8 weeks of this! You did well though to go to the doctor's when you noticed this lump and it's good that they were thorough and did all these tests. It's reassuring news that the bloods came back fine and it must be frustrating not to have any answers after the MRI and to be left in limbo a little waiting for the next appointment. Luckily it's not too long now until the 19th and I hope that they will be able to do the biopsy without any further delay as I can understand why you would want to have some clarity on all this as soon as possible.

I am keeping everything crossed for you that you won't need to wait too long to have a diagnosis and I thought I would share with you these helpful tips  to help you cope while waiting for important news. You are not alone though as many on our forum will be able to relate to what you are currently experiencing, the impression that it is taking too long to be seen and that every step should be taken a lot more quickly. You are in good hands though and I am sure it won't be long now until you have a full diagnosis and find out more.

    Best wishes,

  • Good morning:-)

Thank you kindly for your reply ,I guess I'm reading more and more people's stories and seeing that it's happening pretty quick from first docs app to results I just hope IF they honestly suspect cancer they wouldn't leave me this long knowing the chances are high (this is what people saying to me ) that maybe the specialist have seen my scans etc and aren't to concerned with what they have seen hence the 4week wait .....I don't know guess they trying make me feel better ? I just feel like it's to long and pray it's not spreading if it Is :-(

Anyways I will continue to plod on I guess x
