Hi I have never been as scared as I was yesterday morning , its a cancerous polyp rectal wall which is what was expected , its localised so not spread anywhere , they've transferred me to Sheffield for chemo for 4 to 6 months then surgery , I feel 100% better now , just got to get on with it now ! Hope you're ok xx
Hi well done for being strong. Now you know what happens next and you’re in good hands. Hopefully you’ve got good support from family and although it maybe tough at times you’ve got this. I’m beginning to feel stronger and will make a decision about chemo shortly. Keep in touch and remember it’s all about you so be selfish if you want. Take care. Xx
Hi how are you doing ? I got letter through to go to Sheffield on 4th Sept so I will know the treatment plan then , can I ask after surgery did you get a clear result ? And is the extra chemo just to prevent it coming back ? I've been reading up alot about chemo xx
Hi I’m pleased you’ve got a date to go and get your treatment plan. Not too long to wait now. When I saw the registrar two weeks ago he said my operation had a good outcome. They took enough bowel away to know they got everything each side of the tumour and the lymph nodes they removed showed no signs of cancer. He suggested I didn’t need more chemo. I did have 6 weeks of intensive chemo before my op with three drugs given every two weeks. I’m not having anymore chemo as it will probably make me ill and my oncologist says it will have negligible effect on any outcomes. I think it’s a case of everyone’s cancer is different and how people respond differs to individuals. You just need to ask lots of questions when you go and take something to write things down. You will be given lots of information and it can take time to process.
Let me know how you get on. I’ll be thinking of you. Xx
Hi I have been reading your story. I am waiting for my daughter to get her results following a colonoscopy they found a polyp 4cm quite large. Biopsy done, Ct scan and MRI the waiting is terrible. Your story sounds very familiar to my daughters. Hope you are feeling ok.
Hi yes you're right the waiting is terrible and they told me at colonoscopy that it was looking like cancer but obv until the tests are done wasnt confirmed , that month was horrendous , but most polys are non cancerous so fingers crossed your daughter will be ok , I felt so much better on diagnosis although not the best outcome I feel positive and the doctors did too , find out treatment plan on weds for chemo , im scared but just need to get sorted and back to normal , hope your daughter is ok , and also you with the worry xx
Thank you for your reply, unfortunately the biopsy results came back inconclusive which means she now has to have the colonoscopy done again and wait again for the results. I hope all goes well for you.
Sorry to hear that , the waiting is just the worst , try stay positive but I do know it's hard , most ployps aren't cancerous but still dosent help the worry , il be thinking about you both .
Hi I got diagnosed with rectal cancer on 14th of August, I have oncologist meeting on weds this week to find out the treatment plan of chemo then surgery as I understand so far , im scared but positive , the doctor sounded positive its not spread anywhere , I keep reading of people with stoma and its something I know nothing about and scares me , thanks for listening.
Hello scares me I think more than my daughter she is being positive, they have co firmed the cancer has not spread if it is cancer they did tell her to prepare for the worst. I just want to know what we are dealing with treatment surgery
