Swollen left collarbone and

Hello,

I have suffered with nodules in my thyroid gland Ifor 30 years. 28 years ago I had my right thyroid removed bye cause of a growth which thankfully was benign.’

I approximately 8 years ago another nodule appeared in my left thyroid, again benign. I now have another lone anger growth in my neck and a  swollen collarbone with a lump protruding. This has grown larger over the last 2/3 weeks . I also have an ‘uncomfortable’ feeling across my chest and shoulder blades.I was starting to feel a little concerned so I booked an appointment with my doctor. He was however very dismissive, saying collar bones are common!
Any advise would be appreciated

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, JoGoat.

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you have been through with your thyroid issues over the years.

It's understandable to feel concerned about the new growth and the discomfort you're experiencing and it's good that you're proactive in seeking a medical opinion. That being said, if you feel your concerns weren't fully addressed, it might be helpful to ask for a second opinion if possible.

I hope other forum members with better advice will be here shortly but until then if you think that it could be helpful to ask some questions to one of our nurses, please know that the team can be reached on this number 0808 800 4040 Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you for your reply.

I am going to make another appointment at my doctors, but I will request to see a different doctor. The swelling has now progressed t my breast and armpit.
