CA125 Anxiety

Hi.  I'm feeling very worried about my rising CA125 blood results.  First test three weeks ago came back at 46, today its gone up to 58 so I've been referred to the 2 week NHS pathway, where hopefully they'll get to the bottom of it.  I'm especially worried as I've had a hysterectomy leaving my ovaries intact.  Which means that it couldn't be due to fibroids or endometriosis or periods or anything like that.  I'm 60.  I feel fine, I think!  No bloating or loss of appetite or any of the normal warning signs.  I just can't get my head around what could be causing it....  Anyone had a similar situation?

  • Hello onujibo

I'm sorry to hear that your recent CA125 test results have shown a rise and that you're now waiting to see the specialist for further investigation. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious ahead of your appointment.

We know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be difficult and it's natural to have questions and concerns. It can sometimes help to talk things through with someone and I wonder if you might find it helpful to talk with one of our team of nurses. I know they will be happy to offer any advice, information, and support they can offer before your appointment. If you'd like to talk with them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long to see the specialists and they will be able to give you some answers and reassurance.

Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • I’ve had a ct scan and attended gynaecology clinic at my local hospital.  Scan didn’t show anything sinister and they didn’t want to do an ultra sound as they doubted they’d be able to find the ovaries bearing in mind previous us in March when they weren’t seen due to my age, hysterectomy etc.  so I’ve been told to just keep testing the ca125 to make sure it doesn’t raise to alarming levels.  Doesn’t stop your worrying about what’s causing the raised levels in the first place..,,
