Lymph nodes

I have had about 4-5 pea lumps in my neck / around my neck for about 8 months after I had glandular fever 8 months ago. I had blood work thyroid checks, went for an ultrasound they said they look like normal lymph nodes that are overactive. I was still worried and saw a specialist ENT who also said he thinks they are okay and too small to biopsy.
I have not relaxed since all over social media I see posts and have now convinced myself I have hodgkins Lymphoma. Is it true they can be too small to biopsy?

Any advice is appreciated because I am lost and terrified.

  • Hello lara.deb,

Social media or the famously unreliable Dr Google can play tricks on your mind and convince us that we have all sorts of cancerous ailments but the reality is only a doctor will be able to tell you what these lymph nodes are so don't pay any attention to what comes up on social media. You did the right thing in seeing a specialist about this and it sounds like the ENT specialist is not overly concerned. I am not sure myself whether they can be too small to be biopsied but I think you can trust the advice of the experts on this and if you wanted full peace of mind, you could also consider getting a second opinion

I know it's easier said than done but don't feel lost or terrified but for this it's important to keep well away from these online sources that do a good job at terrifying us. Talk to your doctor instead about your concerns and worries as they will have the expertise to fully reassure you.

I hope you feel less worried soon about this and that you will hear from other members of our community who have had similar lymph nodes concerns before.

    Best wishes,
