Tiny lump - size of your lump?

Hi all,

I’m not one to post on forums but I couldn’t find my answer anywhere else. I’m 26 and have found a tiny lump in my left breast, just above the nipple. I’m a regular breast checker and this was newly found last month. My mum had breast cancer twice, at 40 and at 50, and I have strong family history on my mum’s side which is why I’m slightly anxious about this lump.

It feels hard, and immovable. It stays in the same place no matter which position I’m in. My doubt about it, which is why I’ve yet to call a doctor, is that it is really very small. It feels only a few millimetres, slightly bigger than a pencil or ball point pen nib, kind of like a bit of grit. How small was your lump when you felt it?

I’m leaving it for now to see if it grows or changes but it’s always at the back of my mind.

Thanks!

  • Hi Dimitrasdaughter.  I think that you should see your doctor about this lump.  It doesn't matter if it is small, it still needs to be checked out.  I was diagnosed with breast cancer 5 years ago and the lump wasn't very big.  Also, you say that it is hard and immovable, and this is a red flag.  Good luck.
