Bowel problems

So tmi but 2 years ago maybe 3 I had a polop removed from bowel I was in the surveillance check up because of my age, 40 now. However the guideline changed,

I've been having issues again with bowel dioreah,  urgency  so I treated with all the peppermint , ibs things over the counter no avali. I took a FOB test that was positive for blood so thought I'd treat piles I might have inside maybe ... using suppositories recently brought a FIT test again positive for blood. I just alway feel one humiliated going to the gp with bottom issues also  like im wasting there time.

Last time it was a 2 week emergency app, but it was just a polopy so really a waste of nhs time and effort. It's frustrating the surveillance guidelines have changed literally weeks before, I did speak with the colonoscopy team who said go to gp they will get you back in.

I've taken pictures of the fit and fob test not sure what the difference is and also poo ....I'm not sure why I took a picture of poo

Hi Ava, just read your post and thought I'd reach out to you, as I've had many bowel issues myself  ,and thought maybe I could help with your worries.

The first thing I need to say to you is never ever feel like your concerns and getting and going for  help from your go or any hospital appointments are a waste of time  and secondly I know your embarrassed  as you've mentioned that  but  that's a normal reaction for you to feel this way but believe me it isn't the case for your gp or consultants at the hospitals, its a normal day for them  talking and examining bottoms/ bowels, it's something they do day in  day out. I had ulcerative colitis aged, 18I,im now 67 .

'Ive had 40 Colonoscopys many polyps removed one being a flat sessile polyp contsining high grade dysplasia ( pre cancerous cells) which ended up with me being advised and actualy having a right side of my bowel removed .it wasn't cancer but  the pre cancerous cells could of turned into cancer  so it was a  prevention  operation to stop that happening.

Don't ever feel your a burden or a waste of NHS time, you are definitely not, I was due to have a colonoscopy after them letting me go five years in 2015,I waited and waited for appointment to come through,as the last consultant who did my previous colonoscopy told me he'd let me go five years till the next one but by then he would be retired  but he told me jasmin  make sure  you get this done, you will need to be moniterrd for the rest of your life ,as so much cancer in your family history.

So when it came to the five years and I hadn't heard anything,I called my gp who said you don't need a colonoscopy, I said oh no I  actualy do the last consultant five years ago told me I'd need one periodically for the rest of my life  because of so much cancer being in my family.  So they said ok,and I eventually got an appointment cone through ,and thank goodness I did as that is when they found the flat sessile polyp  it had to be cut away in five sections  dye was put inside the bowel into the polyp first ,as it was flat against the bowel wall . It grew back ,when they checked it within three months, so bowel resection operation  for removal of right side of bowel, and small part of my intestine was sheduled ,as I said in 2015.

So if i hadn't of pushed to actually get that colonoscopy  becsuse of what that  consultant had said I may of gone on to develop bowel cancer  and may not of been here now to tell you this.

So please never feel the way you are now,I'd rather be a bit embarrassed  for a while, and be seen and looked at,and have any tests/procedures needed  as you never know ,like me it could save your life.

Yes it may even turn out to be nothing  it may turn out to be hemroids that are internal  or outside , it may be a polyp ,it could be ibs,it could be a manner of things, but getting anything you feel isn't right should be checked out please never leave anything because your embarrassed or becsuse you feel your wasting the NHS time ,your not. You have every right to be seen just as much as evetyone does who's concerned or worrird about any health issue they are facing.

Sorry for long reply  but I realy do hope this has helped you to not feel  the way you do.
