I’m new here. I’ve just had my investigation appointment.

I’ve just had my urology investigation appointment after waiting nearly a year. I’m under 45 so didn’t meet the fast track process. I get re-occurring UTI’s.

They took a look in my bladder and found a small area of concern (around 2mm/didn’t look angry) and are now fast tracking me for a byopsy under general anaesthetic and a scan. I’ve been given a MacMillan number to call if I need it.

I know this is all standard procedure and I’m glad what they found was small and is being checked out but I suffer terribly with health anxiety. It seems very few bladder findings are non-cancerous which has scared me. I’m reaching out for support.

  • Welcome to the forum, Kittybones.

I'm sorry to hear that you're going through this challenging time. It’s completely understandable to feel anxious, especially when dealing with health concerns and waiting for more information. The important thing is that you're being proactive and getting the care you need.

It sounds like you're in good hands with your medical team, and it's great that they’re being thorough and ensuring you get the necessary tests done. Many people find it helpful to talk about their worries, so reaching out for support, whether through this forum, friends, family, or the MacMillan number you were given, can make a big difference.

Try to take things one step at a time and be kind to yourself. You're not alone in feeling this way, and there are many people here who understand what you're going through so I hope you'll get to chat with some of them soon.

Take care and keep us updated on how you're doing.

    Best wishes,

  • Thanks for your reply. To be honest, I’m totally overwhelmed, stressed and anxious. I’m not sure how to deal with it. Day to day stresses are heightened too. Where do people go when they get like this?

  •  I'm sorry to hear how much you're struggling at the moment Kittybones.

If you haven't done so already, do be sure to reach our to your GP as they will be able to help you and signpost you to any services in your local area that can help you manage your anxiety and stress. • Thank you Steph. I’ve called my GP every day but they can’t see me and there’s no pre-bookable appointments. I call at 8am and I’m 30+ in the queue.

Health anxiety isn’t new for me. It’s on my records and can be severe. I’ve had CBT and other support but I need help to cope more than ever. There’s nobody to go to. It’s a case of having to battle with my own mind 24/7.
