FIT and FC

Hello all, first post so please be gentle.

Just had FIT done and results <4. Very happy. While in consultation with GP, he casually mentioned taking FC. He was confident that would be negative, given the current qFIT. Unfortunately, FC came back abnormal at 65. I appreciate that this is very borderline and some trusts use 60 as a cut off rather than 50.

This abnormal result has got me down the rabbit hole that is Google! I have learnt that PPI’s can give an elevated FC reading? I’ve been on them for 15 years.

I’m an otherwise fit and healthy 55 guy. Running 4 miles daily and eating well. I’ve got no symptoms really, but am on edge big time after a diagnosis of Barratts Esophogus in February. It is a tiny amount but has altered my perspective big time. I analyse everything now, like a dog with a bone.

I’m not sleeping and a bag of nerves right now.

Any help or kind words would be so welcome.

Take care all.

  • Hi Paul121,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can understand your concerns, especially if you don't yet have all the information from the doctor. I'm not sure if you're waiting for any follow-ups, but if so then I hope you're able to find out more soon. If not, do of course discuss any questions with your doctor.

Do try to avoid Googling as a lot of the information won't be relevant, and it only tends to increase worries. Try to focus on keeping busy and on things you enjoy, to help take your mind off any worries.

If others here have similar experience or thoughts to offer then hopefully you'll get some more replies soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
